Meghan Markle reportedly "cried on demand" at the late Queen Elizabeth's funeral where she was joined by husband Prince Harry and hundreds of others whilst they paid respects to the late monarch as an online 'fake tears' theory has gone viral.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the funeral of Britain's longest serving monarch in September 2022 as they grieved the loss of the late Queen despite ongoing tensions among the Royal family.

Harry and Meghan were seated next to other members of the Royal Family, as well as Harry’s cousins Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie as the Duchess of Sussex looked visibly emotional whilst outside Westminster Abbey.

A single tear was seen rolling down her face according to reports in the Mirror, as an online 'fake crying' theory has been doing the rounds on social media, the publication details which first started on TikTok.

Critics of the former Suits actress have accused her of forcefully crying in a bid to get the public on side. The video on TikTok shows the mum-of-two blasted for looking downcast whilst attending the late Queen's funeral as some have said she was fake crying.

“If you see Meghan Markle crying from her left eye, it’s most probably fake. Let me explain. When Meghan was spotted crying at the Queen’s funeral, royal fans immediately accused her of fake crying. If you closely examined Meghan’s photo taken during the funeral, the tears were coming down only from her left eye,” they claimed.

“In an interview in 2014, she had mentioned that she had mastered the trick of fake crying out of her left eye,” they continued, before asking followers their take on whether Meghan was really crying at the funeral.

But some of Meghan's loyal fleet of followers rushed to her defence in the comments as they slammed the creator of the video for encouraging the 'fake crying' theory.

“But tbh If you knew you told people that you could do that it would be stupid to do it at a funeral. If you're not going to cry don't fake cry,” one commented. “Leave the poor girl alone!” another added.

Another fan said: "To be in that chapel, in all its beauty, to hear the choir singing & echoing throughout. To see the imperial crown removed from the coffin, its enough to make anyone in there emotional and cry!"

Meghan previously confessed herself she was able to cry out of her left eye on demand, which has re-surfaced from a video clip on her old lifestyle blog The Tig. “Oh I can do that so well! Oh my god it’s crazy. They’re like, Meghan, one tear, left eye, go! Give me three seconds," Meghan responded when asked if she could make herself shed a tear.

The Duchess was also accused of pretending to cry during a teaser clip for her and Harry's Netflix docuseries which was released in 2022 as she was seen sobbing. “Crocodile tears,” one critic fired on Twitter. “Always an actress…can chuck out tears,” another chimed in.
